Mediation Philosophy

As a mediator, my job is to keep people out of the courtroom—to facilitate the resolution of disputes in ways that reasonably and sensibly addresses the parties' interests in a cost effective and practical manner.

Video and Remote Mediation

Recent world events are requiring us to adapt our practices, including the way we conduct mediations. So, for the time being, I am conducting all mediations remotely using state-of-the-art video conferencing services. These services allow the parties and their lawyers to fully engage in mediation, while preserving all of the separation and confidentiality we are accustomed to for in-person mediation sessions. I continue to provide the same uncompromised level of service to all participants.

Why You Should Mediate Instead of Litigate

Mediation puts decision-making back into the hands of the parties.

And as much as I enjoy taking cases to trial as a lawyer, I prefer to resolve cases outside of the courtroom. Litigation is expensive, time-consuming, and incredibly stressful for the participants. It also requires the parties to place their fate in the hands of a judge or jury who, after a decision is reached, has no stake in the outcome. Mediation avoids these risks and uncertainties by offering the parties an opportunity to maintain control over the outcome of their case, resolve their dispute in a way that provides the most benefit to them, and provides more flexibility in crafting feasible and realistic solutions to sometimes complicated or cumbersome problems.

Mediation Practice Areas

The key to a successful mediation is not just the parties’ willingness to resolve their dispute, but also the effectiveness and experience of a mediator who will listen to the participants, facilitate constructive and creative problem solving, and work hard to help the parties reach a settlement. As a mediator, I draw from more than 20 years of experience negotiating, litigating, and mediating real estate matters to help parties resolve their disputes.
